Ina Norrman is a contemporary jeweller based in London and Designer-in-Residence at Middlesex University.
Guns to Goods is collaborating with Ina and other designers; exploring their craft as a vehicle for raising awareness of local resolution and urban peace campaigns. We are researching the potential of design and craft making in relation to the physical properties of recycled gun metal, and how this very hard and, subsequently, dense and brittle ferrous material and be refashioned.
A test batch of circular discs – connotative of looking down the barrel of a shotgun – with laser etched ‘Guns to Goods’ branding and hand painted red enamel markings were paired with magnets to attach to clothing as a symbolic brooch, and distributed as gifts of thanks to our peace champions at Manchester Cathedral on International Women’s day, as part of the event unveiling the sculpture of Dr Erinma Bell MBE DL.
